Status and Troubleshooting

Help with the terminal, calls, audio, and saved work.

This page is a troubleshooting reference, not a live service health report. Use the checks below when the terminal, a call, or saved work is behaving unexpectedly.

The Terminal Will Not Load

Reload the terminal page. If it still shows an old or broken version, open Reset cached site files, wait for the result, then return to the terminal.

Save or download important work before leaving the terminal. The cache reset removes downloaded site files and unregisters the service worker. It does not clear localStorage or IndexedDB, where saved browser data is kept. Reloading can still lose unsaved work and ends the current call.

A Call or Command Is Stuck

Close any open menu and click inside the terminal to give it keyboard focus. If you need to disconnect, open MENU or press F10 and choose Hangup. Save work first: hanging up ends that service session. Check the number in the phonebook and the commands in the manuals before trying again.

Audio Is Missing or Too Loud

On the first visit, modem audio starts on at a conservative level. Use the modem speaker controls to mute it or change the volume. Your browser may wait for a click or keypress before allowing sound.

Saved Work Is Missing

Browser saves belong to the browser profile and site where you saved them. Another browser, private browsing, or a different storage directory may show different files. For BASIC, check Browser Saves and the selected medium or directory before LOAD. Other services can keep their own saved files; check their manuals. Keep downloaded backups of work you want to preserve.

Before Clearing Site Data

Clear Screen only clears the terminal display. Clearing all emulator.ca site data through your browser removes local progress, preferences, saved programs, and stored media. Download backups first; clearing this data cannot be undone through the site.

Clearing browser data or signing out does not delete server-held posts, uploaded files, accounts, or AI consent. Read the Privacy Policy for data handling and contact options.

Report a Problem

If these checks do not help, use the feedback page. Include the number or page, the steps you tried, and what appeared on screen.
